Civil Engineering is the broadest and age-old engineering profession concerned with the overall human interface and traditionally nomenclature as “An art, on which the wealth and the well-being of the entire society depends” It inculcates into the person, the power of imagination to fashion the basic infrastructure & services that every citizen needs with a tangible approach towards sustainable physical and natural environment. Understanding the importance and need of this profession. The Nagpur Institute of Technology, Nagpur, established the Department of Civil Engineering from the Academic Session 2010-11 with an intake capacity of 60 students. Presently, about 185students are on roll. The department aims at the providing quality education, practical teaching, case studies, field visits and promotion of research activities amongst the students through industrial tie-ups.

The Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) provides a platform to the students to depict their organizational and performance skill in different walks of life. It also involves students in philanthropic activities such as donation of cloths, books, etc. Students are regularly updated with the Civil Engineering Knowledge through the Guest Lectures. The department has started expert coaching of Competitive Exams such as MPSC, GATE, and UPSC for its Third Year Students.
The department is practicing Pro-Environment Policies such as prohibiting use of Non-Biodegradable Material, Reduced Font Size Documents to Save Trees, curbing Noise Pollution by avoiding Hi-Decibel Sound in the premise.
To bridge the gap between Industries and Academics through Industry Interaction. make the students aware of the recent technologies and happenings in Irrigation Department in India. Provide Information to students about various Equipments used in Water conveying process and know the working of various types of water treatment machineries.
To attend conference of UNICEF and know their various agendas towards Smart Water
Management. Student able to understand importance of water management.
The main aim of this Visit is to enhance the knowledge of students about the working of FM radio station. Students were getting detailed information about various software use in Radio station. After the interaction with RJ Niketa they were know how exactly they manage various tasks simultaneously. This visit helps to increase the confidence level of the students.
To enhance the knowledge about the use of bamboo as an construction material Joining a study tour with an expert guide who is very knowledgeable the topic is like having on-hand answers to questions that may not be fully accounted in some books.Study tour anytime in the course of study can be an exciting and new experience that students may look forward to.Gained knowledge about use of mud bricks, earth material in construction with improving its properties. Learnt how bamboo can be used as a construction material in place of reinforcement. Got an idea about how digitalization can connect villages with the world, due to which villagers are able to seek job opportunities in the various sectors.
To enhance the knowledge of students with observation and practical approval and study the details and observe the construction procedure of MIHAN metro depot .Development of platform for knowledge sharing .Development of contact and relations of students of Civil with experts working in various sectors. Interaction of students with experts to strengthen concepts and interest in creative Metro Rail projects.
The students will understand the actual working of various units of Sewage Treatment Plant and acquire practical knowledge . also cleared their concept s about various treatment units.got knowledge about various parameters for treating the waste and the idea about actual working on site.
The main aim of this visit is to intensify the knowledge of students about leadership in Science and Environment for sustainable development of the Nation Students realized the various activities performed by human being which destroying the nature and environment.They understand the control measures for environmental issues such air pollution , water pollution etc. They appreciated the necessity to use various natural resources such solar energy.
